A man has been shot dead during a police operation, the police watchdog said. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which has been called in to investigate, said it understood the dead man had been shot by police in north London, adding that an officer had been taken to hospital.
The extent of the officer's injuries were unknown but they have since been discharged from hospital, a spokesman said.
IPCC investigators were deployed to the scene in Ferry Lane, Tottenham Hale, after shots were fired at 6.15pm, he said.
